Madhuri Dixit

Madhuri has been a popular Indian actress who achieved recognition for her performance in the film Hum Aapke Hin Koun and Beta Saajan. Her career began in the late 1980s, and rose into prominence thanks to her character in Tezaab, a film where she starred with the veteran actor Anil Kapoor. Her next role was in Dil which she shared screen space with Aamir. The daughter of a middle class family in Mumbai she was able to learn dance from a very young age. She started acting when an infant and was struggling for several years because many of her early films were flops. Eventually she became one the most famous actresses in Indian films. In the aftermath of her wedding, she took a break from her acting career prior to returning. Recently, she was a key player in Gulaab Gang a movie about the struggle of Indian women. Dixit has been nominated for 15 Filmfare Awards, out of which she was awarded eight. Padma Shri was awarded to her, which is the fourth most prestigious civil award in India. In addition, she is recognized for her charity work.
